Jessie’s House

More than just a bed, we provide a broad range of services, building a case plan to suit our client’s needs. Built to accommodate even the largest families, we are committed to providing, specialized supports for children who’ve lived through the trauma of abuse. As a trauma-informed facility we meet residents where they are, reducing as many barriers to support as possible. Our person-centred approach promotes healing and empowers indivduals to break free from domestic abuse, permanently.

If you don’t feel safe at home, you will be safe at Jessie’s House.

Clients or service providers seeking support may call Jessie’s House Crisis Line 24 -7 at 1-866-939-2850.

Individuals from the Sturgeon Region and St Albert will be our priority, however residents outside the region will be supported as capacity permits.

Eileen’s Place

Jessie’s House is an emergency shelter for individuals and families who need a safe place to stay as they flee domestic violence. Emergency shelters are intended to offer short term accommodation as residents work with staff to build a plan for their new start. However, some residents require accommodation for a longer period of time as they navigate lengthy waitlists for long term housing or work toward education and career objectives.

JMMF has identified that Creating a Second Stage Housing Strategy will address these gaps and ensure that there is space in Jessie’s House for clients who are in crisis. Clients who require more support for a longer period of time will transition from Jessie’s House into our second stage housing, where they will receive additional programming and work toward their goals.

What is Second Stage Housing?
Second-stage housing facilities are safe, longer term (6 months to 2 years) residences that are part of the spectrum of domestic violence support. Second-stage housing bridges the transition between an emergency shelter and an individual/family living on their own. They provide wrap-around supports to meet the needs of abused adults and children. Some of these supports include subsidized rent, food security, free/affordable child-specific programming, employment readiness, community connection, furthering education, peer-to-peer support, group programming, elder teachings, cultural programming, counselling, outreach services, support with longer term housing, and achieving client identified goals.

Simply put, Jessie’s House saves lives. We need more safe and affordable housing options for Albertans who are fleeing domestic violence and creating a new beginning.

Jessie’s Adventure Park

Jessie’s Adventure Park is a new project from JMMF. The park is for children who stay at Jessie’s House. We expect to see more children in the coming months as we increase awareness of our services in the community.

Jessie’s Adventure Park includes play structures themed towards early childhood development. The park will increase cognitive functions, encourage healthy bonding between children and parents, and build self esteem. Outdoor play will enhance program delivery and encourage joyful enjoyment, all through a trauma-informed lens.
