About $46,000 was raised on Sunday for an emergency shelter offering safe space to victims of domestic violence in Sturgeon County.
Ten years after a mother from Morinville, Alta., was murdered by her common-law husband in front of her three children, people gathered in the community to remember her and raise awareness about the threat posed by domestic violence.
Our outreach program empowers survivors to reconnect to community. By linking them to necessary resources and community supports, they are more likely to break-free from the cycle of domestic violence permanently.
The colour purple, signified by a purple ribbon, has been widely adopted as the unifying symbol of courage, survival, honor and dedication to ending family violence.
