Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation to host Country Cabaret
The Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation (JMMF) is excited to announce a new, major fundraiser being held on November 16, 2019, at CFB Edmonton, 210 Ortona Rd, Landcaster Park. The Country Cabaret will be an unforgettable evening of great food, great fun and great entertainment featuring Canadian Country Music Artist (CCMA) Award-winning artist, Jason Benoit.
The event, which is expected to attract a crowd of up to 320 attendees, will include a silent auction, dinner, dance, and concert to raise funds to complete the construction and support the operation of Jessie’s House, an emergency shelter to house individuals and families fleeing domestic violence. The 9200 square foot facility is the first new shelter to be built in nearly twenty years and will be only one of three shelters in Alberta to support individuals of any age or gender. Unique in its design, the shelter’s three family suites and self-contained suite will provide refuge for large or inter-generational families.
Lynne Rosychuk, JMMF President said, “We wanted to host a fun, casual event for our supporters to kick up their heels. CFB Edmonton is a great venue and has hosted many other dinners and concerts there in the past. With Jason Benoit, our CCMA Award-winning artist, great food, and a great venue, our evening should be memorable. ”
Benoit, who will be releasing a new album this spring, is proud to be working to support Jessie’s House and said, “It’s an awesome cause and I’m really excited to be there.”
The Jessica Martel Foundation, led by Rosychuk who is a passionate advocate for family violence supports following her daughter’s tragic murder at the hands of her common-law partner in 2009, have continued to raise money to build a safe house to support those impacted by family violence in the Sturgeon region. In September of 2018, the JMMF broke ground on Jessie’s House, a first stage emergency shelter, which is expected to begin sheltering individuals and families from the Sturgeon Region, Alexander First Nation, Edmonton Garrison and City of St. Albert in early 2020.
