Since 2012, The Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation has been fundraising to address the provincial shortage of shelter beds and build an emergency first- stage shelter for our region. In September 2018, we officially broke ground on Jessie’s House.
Jessie’s House will serve families, women, men and children in Morinville and from the Sturgeon Region and City of St. Albert.
Construction on the $1.2 million dollar project is expected to be complete within 12 months. At this time, we have raised 60% of the funds to complete the build and sustain one year of operations. With with continued support of our community, Jessie’s House is anticipated to shelter residents in 2020. Support Jessie’s House.
The support has been amazing. When I talk about it, it brings me to tears. It was hard to lose my daughter, but it was wonderful to see how many people want to see something good come out of this horrible incident.
